College

u13419 さんの投稿 @ 11月 11, 2024

 College.... it sucks...

Why you might ask? Well, the college I go to basically has us doing for 4 hours, actually, we sit there for 2 hours, our teachers most definitely aren't present and we are left alone to sit on a single lecture and go home!

If they are present... well... they just give us a Word document and say "go red n do id." and we are left without supervision. We just do whatever the document says, well, me and a few guys do, most, if not, almost the entirety of the group does nothing and just make noise and have fun playing osu on the computers.

Well, don't call me the right one, I also don't do anything because its not even worth it.

I do hope that I finish college early in 2026, I'll probably write a new post about what I have planned in 2025.

Happy 11.11 by the way!

Life

u13419 さんの投稿 @ 9月 09, 2024

Everybody has a life, you have a life, we have a life, even a non-animate object has a life, we all have a life to live through

I have a life which is mostly mixed in with video games, college and language learning. Ive been studying English for the past 10 years or so since the time i saw some Nickelodeon sitcoms on the TV, I saw the langauge as something more than a small thing you learn in schools and colleges here and saw it as something that can allow me to enter a new realm of the internet, I could meet some new people, find out something new, something that you wouldnt normally do with something like Russian

After 10 years I know English at a pretty decent level, I was able to learn it to the point I was able to go monolingual(Monolinguality means being able to learn and intercept the language using the language itself, i.e. learn or find out something new in the Japanese using Japanese or study French while knowing English when your native language is Portugese. You can know the language better than the native language, its a fun process where you just know that you know the language so well that you dont need to rely on your native language.

Thanks to English, I was able to explore a side of the internet a normal person in, lets say, Ukraine or Poland wouldnt normally explore. I was able to find out stuff that wouldnt normally be findable and I was able to find more articles that were actually pretty useful. I was able to play games that were released in English with the original voice acting. I was able to meet friends from different countries and so forth.

I have plans for learning Japanese, thats my new goal, but theres a small thing that is stopping me from doing so, time spent on social media and all that bunch of mumbo jumbo.

You might say "Thats delusional thinking! What is this idiot baffling about?" and you will be half-correct, I do think I have some beliefs which are super weird and that its not normal. But lets say for example the following:

How much time have you spent on video platforms like YouTube? If you were just a PC user, probably 4 hours at maximum everyday, if you were a mobile user you probably can spend up to 8 hours every single day thanks to the new way of watching content called Shorts, its basically a TikTok ripoff, and its basically the thing that started it all(thankfully, Vine isnt the same in terms of content but its still the thing that spawned the entire genre.)

How much time do you spend on SNS like Discord or Twitter? You could also spend the same amount of time just browsing the main feed and talk in servers and in DMs.

All of that culminates into something that is your main drive, soemthing that fuels your dopamine, makes you want to spend all the time there. Got bored? Go on YouTube. Is the current following topic so annoying that you dont care about what the person is saying? You go talk with your friends or browse the feed and comment on what people say and make on Discord and Twitter. Want to kill of time? Do anything listed above

There has been a recent trend of companies making SNS have very personalized recommendations, feeds, make the usage more enjoyable that it just drags the person into jsut using it, this allows them to make more money both by watch revenue and also selling your data to advertisers.Im not saying its bad, but it weirds me the hell out.

I have been spending so much time just doing all of that above that I just forget I have plans and goals that I want to achieve. I have been planning for several years as to how I will dial it all down to a minimum.

I have decided that I will restrict my usages of SNS and Messengers down to about 15-25 minutes everyday for messengers and 15 minutes for video and social platforms. Im not necesseraly saying that I will outright stop using them, im just saying that I will limit my use of them to as low as possible, I believe that will make me more healthier in terms of mental health and will allow me to focus on more stuff.

I have a forum that I own called "SourceFreaks", I will work on it every Wednesday and Fridays for about 1 hour.

Im planning on stretching my entire free time to study the Japanese language, I have plans that I will probably talk in a year so stay tuned for that. Im planning on going to an actual gym to get myself shaped up since I almost look like a skeleton lol.

The main thing to know is that you need to keep your friends and everybody warned about all the stuff you will be doing, as well as keep in touch with them as much as possible, its not right to just drop them out of the blue and have them worry about you, thats wrong.

I will probably update this blog once in every 2-3 weeks and ill put up some stuff like reviews of some tech that i use, tutorials and so forth.

If you actualy spent reading all of this, thank you so much! I hope that I will be able to update this blog more often and that I will keep my non-existant viewers of the blog updated. ^_^

How To Make Proper Post-editing Motion Blur

u13419 さんの投稿 @ 8月 21, 2024

This blogpost will discuss the way you can get proper motion blur in your videos. This will talk about how to do it in Sony Vegas Pro. This is just what I know from experience with working on it and what I read on the internet, so use it as you will

If you want to read up on the thing yourself on how to do it in stuff like VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod or Adobe Premiere or you don't wanna read this and just want to get to the steps immediately, go to this link below:

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Demo_Video_Creation

This is for the Source Engine but scroll down and you will see on how to do it in a video editing software of your choosing with any game as long as they allow you to export in-game recordings at specific framerate/have a beefy PC which can be way over a specific margin, allowing you to cap the in-game framerate the game and record the game while having the framerate you have specified 100% of the time.

The way you can get good motion blur in your game video is to record the game at high FPS(or export giant amounts of frames at a specific framerate). This varies on what FPS you have decided to have the video to be exported as, since all the frames will be used to be resampled to create a smoother moving image.

The Source Engine motion blur that's in the game by default is trash, it gets enabled when you start moving your camera, falling while looking down or up at a specific speed, this is unviable due to the nature of it looking out of place and ugly. However, you can use a feature available in the engine that allows you to export demos at a specific framerate at the cost of storage space depending on what size your in-game resolution and your specific framerate you want to export the demo at is.

A video rendered at 300 FPS at 640x480 resolution with the length of ~35 minutes ended up consuming ~400 GB on my HDD, luckily, since Source Engine can allow you to record specific demos, I was able to have a work around for that space limitation and record demos separately, render them in Vegas Pro and then delete the entire image sequence, leaving me with a video I could use in the project without having my game dying.

To export demos in the Source Engine, you need to disconnect from the map you're on, yes, I know that's a multiplayer term but technically when you're in-game you are actually on a game server. After that, you need to turn on sv_cheats. Now the main part of exporting begins.

  1. Type in "host_framerate X", X being the framerate you want the game to export the demo at, after that, you should set what resolution the game will export it in, just change the game resolution and that's it.
Now, before you start recording, please check how much space you have on your storage device where the game resides in since its the major factor in this. A demo exported in 300@640x480 that's the length of 15 minutes takes up ~150 GB.
  2. Type in "startmovie X_", this is the name of your image sequence that you're gonna export, the underscore is VERY IMPORTANT, it will be easy on your nerves to import it all into Vegas.
  3. Type in the demo you want to record. Take a break while its exporting, it will take a long time.
  4. Once it finishes exporting, type in "endmovie" to have the audio file be finalized
Congratulations, you have officially wasted all of your storage space for a export of your demo. Let's get into the editing part

Create a project in Vegas Pro and set the parameters to be the same as the settings you exported the demo at. Make sure the video is not interlaced.

Once you do that, go to File -> Import -> Media, go to the hl2 folder(or the mod of your choosing that you had the demo exported on) and select the FIRST FRAME of the image sequence and then toggle "Open still image sequence", let it think for a bit and then make sure the range is correct. After that, press "Open".

After that, set the settings for the image sequence, make sure the framerate is at max/the same as the demo(some Vegas versions don't allow having the framerate set over 120 FPS.). Drag your image sequence into the timeline and put in the audio file. Now comes the crucial part

The Source Engine freaks out a bit in the beginning of playing the demo and it will be slightly offset, play around with the video scale and make sure it matches the audio file as much as possible in terms of timing. Please set your preview quality to "Preview (Quarter)", this will make playing the demo painless.

After all that, export the video in AVI if you want it to be 1:1. Once you do that you can delete the image sequence or keep it for future purposes, just make sure you still have the original .dem files to re-render again in the future.
